Celtic will return to action in the midweek as they host struggling Partick Thistle at Parkhead on Tuesday night. The Hoops have played a lesser number of games compared to the other sides due to fixture adjustments which is why they are playing in the midweek unlike the other sides. It should be a cakewalk for Celtic on paper against a struggling Partick side who are at the bottom of the table right now.
The visitors are without a win in their last six games and will head into the game as major underdogs. Celtic, on the other hand, have not lost a single domestic game this season and their target will be an invincible treble.
It will be the second meeting between the two sides in December. They played each other on 9th December and Celtic won emphatically with a 4-1 margin.
Celtic’s overall record in the Premiership against Partick Thistle is excellent. They have won all their 10 games against the Jags and this should be no exception.
Here is the predicted Celtic lineup against Partick Thistle.
Defence
Craig Gordon will be on duty for Celtic under the bar. He rarely needs to do much and against the most struggling side this season, his job should be easy. Cristian Gamboa’s error led to Dundee’s goal against Celtic in the weekend but Rodgers is likely to hand him another chance.
At the heart of the defence, we can expect to see the partnership of Erik Sviatchenko and Jozo Simunovic. The pair has worked wonder for Celtic this season and will be keen to get a clean sheet against Partick Thistle.
Emilio Izaguirre will get another chance to impress at left-back as Kieran Tierney is still working on his comeback from injury. Gamboa will start as the right back.
