In a recent report, Bild mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are set to rival Arsenal for VfB Stuttgart forward Omar Marmoush who is currently playing on loan from VfL Wolfsburg. It has been claimed that Spurs are eyeing a move for the Egyptian talent this summer.
Marmoush’s Impressive Form In German Football
Marmoush is having a decent campaign while on loan at Stuttgart as he has done well to give a good account of himself in the final third. The 23-year-old has registered three goals and four assists in 18 matches for the German club this season across all fronts.
The Egypt international has performed well to average 1.2 tackles, 2.3 shots, 1.4 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. However, he needs to improve his link-up play in the attacking end of the pitch based on his pass completion rate of 70.3% in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
Is Marmoush The Right Choice For Tottenham Hotspur?
Marmoush can use his quickness and agility to make a few dangerous runs with the ball in behind the opponent’s defence. He excels at generating some space for himself and can strike the ball accurately in the final third.
The 11-time Egpyt international can even create some meaningful openings for his teammates up top. Marmoush is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if needed. However, as mentioned earlier, he has to find a way to improve his passing if he intends to be a success story at a top club like Tottenham.
We can expect Marmoush to add more firepower and depth to Antonio Conte‘s attack. Thus, it is only logical for Spurs to try everything they can to lure the Egyptian sensation to the English capital in this off-season.
At 24, Marmoush has still got a lot of room for improvement and would undeniably increase competition for places within Conte’s squad. All in all, the Bundesliga marksman would be a decent choice for the North London giants to pursue during the summer transfer window. He could even serve as an ideal understudy to Harry Kane at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
