In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Pete O’Rourke mentioned that Leeds United are set to reignite their interest in Red Bull Salzburg attacker Brenden Aaronson. When asked about the Whites’ interest in the United States international, O’Rourke said,
“That was the one they tried to do in January and were just not able to do it, so they will definitely rekindle their interest in that one, and Jesse Marsch with his American connections should boost their chances of getting that deal done.”
Aaronson’s Impressive Rise In Austrian Football
Aaronson is experiencing a solid campaign in the Austrian Bundesliga as he has performed at a high level for Salzburg in the final third. The 21-year-old has participated in 35 matches for the Austrian giants this season, scoring five goals and providing ten assists across various competitions.
The New Jersey-born sensation has been a breath of fresh air in Europe where he is averaging 1.1 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Austrian Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making 80.3% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Should Leeds United Boss Jesse Marsch Snap Aaronson Up This Summer?
Aaronson can generate a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He has got the vision to engineer some clear-cut chances in and around the opponent’s penalty box. He can even make some dangerous runs with the ball on the attacking end of the pitch.
At 21, the future is quite bright for the RB Salzburg ace as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football.
The Whites are in dire need to inject more quality into Jesse Marsch‘s attack. Thus, it makes a lot of sense for them to engineer a move to lure Aaronson to Elland Road during the summer transfer window. He will be a decent, long-term option for Marsch to consider in the off-season. Furthermore, the Salzburg whizkid would have a good resale value in the future if the Yorkshire giants can get the best out of him over the next few years.
