In a recent report, Goal revealed that Liverpool are showing interest in Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma. It has been mentioned that the Reds have identified the Netherlands international as a replacement for Sadio Mane whose current contract at Anfield is set to run out in the summer of 2023.
Danjuma’s Impressive Record In Spanish Football
Danjuma is enjoying a decent campaign in Spanish football as he has performed at a high level on the left side of Villarreal’s attack. The 25-year-old has banged in 14 goals and grabbed four assists in 29 matches for the Yellow Submarine this season on all fronts.
The 25-year-old has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 2.8 shots, 0.5 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 76.7% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top-flight (stats via whoscored).
What Will Danjuma Bring To Liverpool?
Danjuma can use his quickness and agility to make some dangerous runs with the ball down the left flank. He is versatile enough to function in any position across the frontline. Danjuma is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a winger on the right or play down the middle as a centre-forward if needed.
The Netherlands international can generate a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in on-target and can even chip in by picking up the odd assist from time to time. However, only time will tell whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League where he will be tested physically week in week out.
Someone of Danjuma’s skillset will be a decent acquisition for the Reds as he will serve as an ideal replacement for Sadio Mane in the summer of 2023. He has got what it takes to excel under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
We can expect Danjuma to bring more pace and goals to Liverpool‘s attack. At 25, he will only get better in the coming seasons which makes him a good option for the Merseyside giants to pursue in the next calendar year.
