The agony of West Ham United fans will finally be over in January. ESPN claim that Simone Zaza will move back to Juventus after a forgettable loan spell. The Italian forward has failed to score in his 11 appearances for the club in the Premier League and EFL Cup. After missing out on all of their high-profile targets in the summer, the Hammers could get Zaza on loan from Italian champions Juventus with an option to sign him permanently. Who would have thought that this move would be such a big flop!
The Hammers would have been obliged to make the deal permanent for €20 million had he made 14 appearances, and agent Vincenzo Morabito has now confirmed the player will return to Turin. West Ham are in dire need of a capable number nine with all their strikers misfiring and with Andy Carroll being extremely unreliable due to his injury problems. Here are three strikers they should go after.
Moussa Marega
The 25-year-old Malian forward has been extensively scouted by a host of Premier League clubs this season. Marega is an ideal striker for West Ham United, who possesses the strength and height of a forward who would do well at West Ham. The FC Porto hitman is currently on loan at Vitoria de Guimaraes. In many ways, he resembles Andy Carroll who is an excellent striker but has always been cursed.
Marega has impressed this season by scoring 10 goals already in the league and also bagging 2 assists in 10 appearances and could prove to be a big success at the London Stadium.
Gregoire Defrel
Sassuolo’s French hitman Defrel has made the headlines this season on more of a regular basis. He is a fantastic forward with an excellent burst of pace and trickery. The Frenchman is more of a complete forward, not a static kind of player.
He will come deep to create chances for the team. You will also get to see him on the flanks on occasions. The Hammers have a lot of creativity and pace in their attacking third and a pacey attacker like Defrel would be a welcome addition.
Daniel Sturridge
Well, this would be dream signing! The Englishman is easily one of the best strikers in the Premier League but is finding it hard to get into Klopp’s first team plans. Philippe Coutinho’s injury could have been his chance to impress the Kop boss but he himself went down to an injury and young Divock Origi has stolen the show. Liverpool’s Danny Boy badly needs to play more and he will be offered regular playing time at West Ham. This would be one hell of an addition to the Hammers.
