In a recent report, Calciomercato stated that West Ham United are set to rival Wolverhampton Wanderers for Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos. It has been revealed that both the Hammers and Wolves are hoping to go all out to land the Argentine wing wizard this summer.
Ocampos’ Decent Record In Spanish Football
Ocampos has put in a series of productive performances on the left side of Sevilla’s attack. The Argentine sensation has banged in eight goals and secured four assists in 35 matches for the Andalusian outfit this season in multiple competitions.
The former River Plate sensation has performed well to average 1.4 tackles, 0.7 clearances, 1.8 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing it in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 82.4% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
What Will Ocampos Bring To West Ham United?
Ocampos can use his quickness and agility to make some driving runs with the ball out on the left flank. He works hard on the defensive end of the field as well and doesn’t shy away from having a strike at goal when afforded time and space by the opposition. The Argentine talent has chipped in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the left-wing position but only time will tell whether he is good enough to cope with the physical nature and high intensity of English football.
At 27, Ocampos is currently enjoying the prime years of his playing career and would undoubtedly bring more goals and creativity to David Moyes‘ attack. He would offer some decent competition for the likes of Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma at the London Stadium in the coming seasons.
Thus, Moyes should consider launching a move to lure Ocampos to the English capital when the transfer window commences later this summer. He ticks all the right boxes in terms of what the Hammers boss looks for in his wingers and might even help the East London club challenge for a major trophy in the not-too-distant future.
