Manchester City locked horns with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park earlier tonight as they hoped to stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League table by winning on the road. Pep Guardiola’s men dominated the game in the first half but lacked the cutting edge in the final third as they went into the half-time interval with a goalless scoreline.
Man City threw everything but the kitchen sink in the second 45 minutes but just couldn’t get the ball in into the Palace net. The contest ended honours even with the Mancunian giants being held to a frustrating 0-0 draw at South London.
Let’s take a look at how each Man City player performed during the match against the Eagles.
GK: Ederson – 6.5/10
The Brazilian keeper had to make one save in the game and secured an easy clean sheet away from home.
RB: Kyle Walker – 6/10
He was solid at the back but could only create one good chance in the opposition half.
CB: John Stones – 7/10
Stones secured the ball back a couple of times and performed well enough to earn the clean sheet tonight.
CB: Aymeric Laporte – 7.5/10
The Spaniard commanded his penalty area with conviction and made a few crucial interceptions at the back.
LB: Joao Cancelo – 8/10
Cancelo went close to scoring with an excellent strike from long range in the first half but could only hit the post. He caused a lot of problems for the Palace defenders and deserves to be named the man of the match.
CM: Kevin De Bruyne – 7/10
The Belgian international orchestrated a few meaningful openings for others around him but lacked quality in front of the Palace goal.
CM: Rodri – 7/10
He offered decent protection for his teammates at the back but gave away some cheap fouls.
CM: Bernardo Silva – 6.5/10
Silva engineered two good chances in the final third but wasted a glorious opportunity to find the back of the net himself in the second half.
RW: Riyad Mahrez – 6.5/10
He was always willing to have a strike at goal but failed to find the cutting edge up top.
ST: Phil Foden – 6/10
Foden combined with De Bruyne quite well but didn’t get too many sniffs at goal.
LW: Jack Grealish – 7/10
Grealish held on to the ball well in tight spaces but never looked like he would score.
