Leeds United entertained Norwich City at Elland Road earlier this afternoon as they hoped to pick up all three points at home. The Whites made a good start to the game and took the lead in the 14th minute when Rodrigo scored with a right-footed strike. Jesse Marsch’s players sat on their lead well and went into the half-time break 1-0 to the good.
The Yorkshire outfit looked to kill the game off in the second half but conceded the equaliser in the 91st minute when Kenny McLean found the back of the net for the Canaries. However, Joe Gelhardt popped with a dramatic winner in the dying embers of the game as Leeds secured a last-gasp 2-1 win at Elland Road.
Let’s take a look at how each Leeds player fared during the match against the Canaries.
GK: Illan Meslier – 6/10
The Whites keeper made a few important saves during the game but will be disappointed after conceding such a late goal.
RB: Luke Ayling – 7/10
He gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field and made two good runs down the right flank.
CB: Diego Llorente – 7/10
The Spanish centre-back earned possession back a couple of times and didn’t take too many risks when clearing his lines.
CB: Pascal Struijk – 7/10
Struijk made some crucial blocks at the back and did enough to keep the opposition frustrated for most of the game.
LB: Stuart Dallas – 7/10
Dallas made a handful of solid interceptions during the game and engineered one key chance in the final third.
CM: Mateusz Klich – 7.5/10
He got stuck in with a lot of crunching tackles to make life difficult for the Canaries at the centre of the park. Klich made a couple of decent chances in the final third and even completed two exciting dribbles with the ball.
CM: Adam Forshaw – 6.5/10
The English talent anchored the midfield with conviction but offered very little in the opposition half.
RW: Daniel James – 6.5/10
James had a few lively moments during the game and has got an assist to show for his efforts.
CAM: Rodrigo – 7/10
The Spaniard took his goal well in the first half and caused a few problems for the Norwich defenders.
LW: Raphinha – 9/10
The Brazilian sensation was unfortunate to hit the post twice. However, he caused all sorts of headaches for the opposition defenders and ended the game with an assist to his name.
ST: Patrick Bamford – 6.5/10
Bamford worked hard but struggled to get a foothold in the game at times during the first half. He got replaced at half-time.
Substitutes:
LW: Jack Harrison – 6.5/10
Harrison showed some glimpses of what he is capable of but failed to register a goal.
CB: Robin Koch – 6/10
The German talent added some steel to the Leeds backline.
ST: Joe Gelhardt – N/A
He came off the bench to net a dramatic winner in injury-time. Marsch can’t ask any more from him!
