Manchester United picked up back to back wins as they notched up a late win against Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park. Palace have been having a horrid time lately but for a moment it looked as if they were on course to end up with a point at least. But the combined histrionics of Pogba and Ibrahimovic made sure they ended up with another loss.
Let us take a look at how the United players performed on the night.
DE GEA- 6/10
Saved United again. Has made it a habit of doing so. His save from James McArthur’s sizzling striker rivalled that of the save he had made to deny Coutinho.
BAILEY- 6/10
Was a surprising choice at right-back in place of the suspended Valencia. Was solid while defending but not the most dangerous when venturing forward.
JONES- 7/10
Another impressive performance by the Englishman. His combative and scrappy defensive style worked well against Christian Benteke and he is seemingly making the spot his own now.
ROJO- 6.5/10
Another match gone. Another reckless Rojo challenge. Twice lucky now in succession. But apart from the moment of madness, he was composed and did his job perfectly.
BLIND- 7/10
Took his chance well and with a balanced defensive and attacking display demonstrated his value to the team ahead of Darmian.
HERRERA- 6/10
Typical busy display. Hustled and harried the opposition midfield. Passed well.
CARRICK- 6/10
Many expected a rest for the senior pro. Quietly did his job but not needed much in midfield and lit up his performance with a splitting pass for Paul Pogba. Efficient.
ROONEY- 6/10
Came inside too often which in-turn increased Blind’s workload on the left side. Was bright in the opening stage but lost a bit of steam as the match went on. Ideally should be playing central.
POGBA- 6.5/10
Got a goal and assisted another but put under the scanner, it was another inconsistent performance from the world’s most expensive player. Some of his passing in the first half was frustrating and the Mourinho’s reactions demonstrated exactly that.
MATA- 6/10
A bit of an anti-climax as he had to take the place of new United’s hero Henrikh Mkhitaryan. His passing wasn’t the most inventive and the pressure of replicating the Armenian’s displays got to him.
IBRAHIMOVIC- 6.5/10
Got the winning goal but was not at his best. Dropped deep too much for the ball and disturbed the balance up top but apparently, the goals are the ones which count.
