It’s been a shambolic European run for Celtic who got knocked out from the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League in one single season. Although they had the chance to extend the lead over Rangers at the top of the Premiership standings, a stalemate at Easter Road this afternoon might prove costly in the decisive weeks of this season’s competition.
Below are the Celtic players rated in their draw against Hibernian.
Joe Hart: 6.5
A comfortable outing for the Hoops ‘number 1’ after quite a few games. Hibs failed to threaten him enough between the sticks and the custodian had little trouble in keeping a clean sheet.
Josip Juranovic: 7
Returned to action as a right fullback. The Croatian had a busy occasion down the right-hand flank as he not only made overlapping runs to contribute high up the pitch but also did timely recoveries to avoid trouble in the defensive third. Could have been more accurate with his crosses and long balls.
Cameron Carter-Vickers: 6.5
Lost a few duels and got dispossessed once, but the Spurs loanee managed it well with his positioning and game-reading attributes from the heart of the backline. Tried his best to play it out from the back.
Carl Starfelt: 6.5
Similar to Carter-Vickers, Starfelt also had a tough time while engaging in duels. But the Swedish centre-half was in the right place at the right time, also his tactical fouls and challenges ruined Hibernian’s rhythm while staging counter-attacks.
Greg Taylor: 6
Not a spectacular display from the left-back. Made a few runs from the flank which, however, lacked purpose and end product. Looked rusty with his tackles while snatching the ball from the visitors.
Callum McGregor: 7.5
Controlled the tempo from the centre of the pitch. Showed his vision and distribution traits while finding his teammates, carried the ball forward from the deep to operate in advanced areas and his through balls from the deep often depleted the Hibernian defence.
Tom Rogic: 5
A disappointing game from the Aussie playmaker who had limited touches and passes before making way for Matt O’Riley around the hour mark. Lacked the creative spark from the middle of the park.
Reo Hatate: 6.5
Was dribbled past a couple of times, but the Bhoys’ Japanese midfielder operated in a box-to-box role to make a difference in this tricky away tie. His final balls let him down on a number of occasions.
Liel Abada: 6.5
Came close to finding the net, but his efforts failed to beat Matt Macey in Hibs’ goal. Looked sharp from the right with his dribbling attempts and swift footwork, but the Israeli youngster could not break the deadlock.
Filipe Jota: 6.5
Whipped in a few crosses from the left, but the majority of them failed to find a teammate inside the box. His skills, flair and cut insides were handled resolutely by the Hibernian defenders.
Daizen Maeda: 5.5
Looked off-paced high up the pitch. Could not meet the crosses, also had the fewest of touches among the Celtic players. Should have done more in terms of work ethic and link-up play.
