Arsenal locked horns with Brentford at the Emirates earlier this evening, hoping to pick up all three points on their home turf. Emile Smith Rowe broke the deadlock around the 48-minute-mark as he displayed some impressive finishing skills to put his side in the lead. Bukayo Saka doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 79th minute; however, Christian Norgaard spoiled the hosts’ cleansheet in the injury time to make it 2-1 in the end.
Let’s take a look at how each Arsenal player fared during the clash against the Bees.
Arsenal Players Rated In Win Vs Brentford
Aaron Ramsdale 7/10
Ramsdale had an easy time between the sticks tonight as the visitors managed just one shot on target all game.
Kieran Tierney 7/10
The Scottish full-back made some sharp overlapping runs to help Emile Smith Rowe down the left-wing. He also defended decently.
Gabriel Magalhaes 6/10
Contrary to White, Gabriel did all the tough work whenever Brentford broke on the counter. Impossible to get past, he exerted physical and aerial dominance to secure all three points for his side.
Ben White 7/10
The Englishman didn’t have too much to do tonight at the heart of Arsenal’s defence.
Cedric Soares 6.5/10
The Portuguese right-back delivered several crosses into the box, but almost none of them had the quality to slice open Brentford’s defence.
Thomas Partey 7/10
The Ghana midfielder shielded the backline well over the course of the game and did a terrific job in releasing Saka on goal with a wonderfully timed through ball, which eventually resulted in a goal.
Granit Xhaka 7/10
The Swiss international’s work rate at the centre of the park was simply incredible. He toiled hard to win the ball back for his side and kept looking for passages to play a forward pass.
Emile Smith Rowe 8/10
The winger finally made all the pressure count by scoring the opening goal of the game. The way he cut inside to place his shot in the right bottom corner of the net – it was an exemplary finish.
Martin Odegaard 6/10
The Norwegian playmaker had a couple of good opportunities to have an attempt on goal but fumbled them.
Bukayo Saka 8/10
The England international was a constant source of menace for the Brentford defenders down the right-wing throughout the ninety minutes. He doubled the Gunners’ lead around the 79-minute-mark with yet another brilliant finish.
Alexandre Lacazette 6.5/10
The Frenchman’s link-up play was impressive, but his decision making in the final third was awful. Nonetheless, he got himself the assist for Emile Smith Rowe’s opening goal.
Substitutes
Nicolas Pepe 6/10
He added some extra energy to Arsenal’s frontline.
Eddie Nketiah 6/10
He came on with just 6 minutes of normal time remaining.
