Real Madrid faced off against Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a good result on the road. Los Blancos were solid in the first half and went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
It was a similar story in the second half but Carlo Ancelotti’s men conceded the opening goal in the 94th minute when Kylian Mbappe found the back of the net with an excellent finish. The contest ended with the Madrid giants suffering a 1-0 loss in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Last 16 clash.
Let’s take a look at how each Real Madrid player performed during the clash against PSG.
GK: Thibaut Courtois – 8.5/10
Courtois made several important stops at the back and denied Lionel Messi from scoring his penalty. However, he will be disappointed after allowing such a late goal.
RB: Dani Carvajal – 6/10
He got stuck in with some solid tackles but offered very little in the final third.
CB: Eder Militao – 6.5/10
Militao did his fair share of defending but was not able to see out the clean sheet in the latter stages of the game.
CB: David Alaba – 6.5/10
He cleared the danger when required and made a few important interceptions at the back.
LB: Ferland Mendy – 6/10
Mendy made a couple of good runs with the ball but was lackluster in the final third.
CM: Luka Modric – 7/10
The Croatia international did his fair share of defending at the centre of the park and made two clever runs with the ball going forward.
CM: Casemiro – 7/10
He worked hard to offer decent protection for his teammates inside his half and was accurate with his passing.
CM: Toni Kroos – 6.5/10
The German midfield ace had a few bright moments in the game but lacked invention with his ball distribution.
RW: Marco Asensio – 6/10
He had a quiet game in the final third and got replaced in the 71st minute.
ST: Karim Benzema – 6/10
Benzema was not at his best tonight. He didn’t even get a sniff at goal.
LW: Vinicius Junior – 6.5/10
The Brazilian talent had a couple of promising moments in the attacking end of the field but didn’t do enough to register a goal.
Substitutes:
RB: Lucas Vazquez – 6/10
He was lively with the ball at his feet.
RW: Rodrygo – 6/10
Rodrygo added some energy to Carlo Ancelotti’s attack.
CM: Federico Valverde – N/A
He didn’t get enough minutes to warrant a rating.
LW: Eden Hazard – N/A
Hazard came on to run the clock down.
ST: Gareth Bale – N/A
He hardly got any time to influence the game.
