In a recent report by Owngoalnigeria, Leeds United are interested to sign the Nantes winger Moses Simon in the summer transfer window. It is believed that Leeds United are among several Premier League clubs including Newcastle United who have a severe interest in signing the Nigerian winger. Reports say that Nantes will be prepared to sell the winger if suitors meet their demand of £20 million for the 26-year-old. The Nigerian have a contract till 2024 with the Ligue 1 side and believes that it is the right time to get a move away from Nantes with several Premier League club interested to secure his services in the summer.
Moses Simon A Key Player At Nantes
Moses Simon joined Nantes on loan from Levante in 2019 and the move was made permanent in 2020. The 26 year-old started well in the French league by scoring 5 goals and providing 5 assists in 25 starts in his first season. This season he has been one of the key players for the Ligue 1 side scoring thrice and providing six assists in the process. He has shown that he has the potential to make a big impact in the next stage of his career and a move to the Premier League seems eminent with Nantes also prepared to sell him.
The Nigerian international also did a fine job for his country in the AFCON. He bagged up a goal and assist in just 3 appearances in the tournament. The 26-year-old will use his good performances from the AFCON to get a move away from Nantes in the summer, with significant interest from the Premier League in the winger but it remains to be seen if Nantes can get at least £20 million for the him with his contract running out in 2024.
Right Choice For Bielsa?
There are multiple reports from recent times that Leeds attacker Raphinha is open to a move in the summer of 2022 as he continues to attract interest from elite clubs. Leeds United have looked toothless in their attack this season due to the long term injury of their star striker Patrick Bamford and now they are fears that they might end up losing the Brazilian. The Nigerian winger can be an ideal replacement if he can show his true potential in the Premier League.
Moses Simon is a technically gifted winger and has a good eye for goal. He is expected to suit Marco Bielsa’s style of football and has the potential to improve his attacking abilities even more. With Newcastle United ready to offer a big contract to Moses Simon, it will be a huge challenge for Leeds to lure him away from them.
