Manchester United entertained Southampton at Old Trafford earlier this afternoon as they hoped to secure all three points at home. The Red Devils made a strong start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 21st minute when Jadon Sancho found the back of the net from close range. Ralf Rangnick’s men sat on their lead well and went into the half-time break with a 1-0 lead.
Che Adams equalised for the Saints just three minutes into the second half when he scored with a tidy finish. Both sides fought tooth and nail in search of the winner as the contest ended with a 1-1 scoreline.
Let’s take a look at how each Man United player performed during the clash against the Saints.
GK: David de Gea – 6.5/10
The Spanish keeper made a few decent saves at the back but will be disappointed after conceding an early goal in the second half.
RB: Diogo Dalot – 6/10
He made two important clearances inside his half but offered very little in the final third.
CB: Raphael Varane – 6.5/10
The French defender dealt with mostly everything that the Southampton attackers threw at him but won’t be pleased after allowing a goal early in the second half.
CB: Harry Maguire – 6.5/10
Maguire had a few nervy moments at the back but did enough work defensively to restrict the opposition from scoring more than once.

LB: Luke Shaw – 7/10
Shaw made a couple of important blocks on the defensive end of the field and created a few decent chances for his teammates up top.
CM: Scott McTominay – 7/10
He anchored the midfield relatively well and made two good runs with the ball going forward.
CM: Paul Pogba – 7/10
The French midfield ace did his fair share of defending and was a constant threat in the Southampton half.
RW: Marcus Rashford – 6.5/10
Rashford picked up an assist for setting up Sancho’s opening goal. However, he struggled to find the cutting edge in the final third during the second 45 minutes.
CAM: Bruno Fernandes – 6.5/10
He was always looking to make things happen but failed to be decisive in the attacking end of the pitch.
LW: Jadon Sancho – 7.5/10
Sancho opened the goal-scoring from close range and managed to earn possession back a couple of times for his side.
ST: Cristiano Ronaldo – 7/10
The Portuguese superstar had a few bright moments in front of the Southampton goal but didn’t do enough to find the back of the net.
