Darwin Nunez has attracted a lot of top European sides following his excellent performances in Benfica colours this season. It is believed that the Red Devils have sent scouts to keep a tab on the forward’s impressive progress this season. West Ham United were hoping to land Nunez, considered as one of the hottest striking prospects in Europe on the winter transfer deadline day but failed to match his valuation, thus giving several other clubs an opportunity to sign him in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Benfica signed Darwin Nunez from Almeria in a €24 million deal in 2020 after he scored 16 goals in 32 Segunda Division games establishing himself as a young prospect. The Uruguayan star has continued his form in Portuguese football and has established himself as one of the finest young forwards in the league by scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in 46 league games across two seasons. His goal against Tondela in the last game saw him move to the top of the scoring charts for the 2021/22 league season with the youngster averaging an impressive 0.94 goals per game.
The immensely talented forward has proven to be a consistent goal-scorer for Benfica this season and has also been in red-hot form, notching up 21 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions, including crucial goals in eye-catching displays against both Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
