Celtic stretched their lead at the top of the Premiership table to 11 points with a 1-0 win against Hamilton Academical at Parkhead on Tuesday night. The Hoops had played three games lesser than their nearest challengers Rangers before the kickoff and had an eight-point lead over their local rivals. This win gives them a further boost for an easy ride for the title this season and also keeps their unbeaten record across domestic competitions intact.
An invincible domestic treble is very well on the cards if the Hoops can keep up their irresistible form. The fans would have probably liked a more emphatic win but they have to realise that with games coming thick and fast, all that matters is three points. Leigh Griffiths scored the winner for Celtic on Tuesday and his strike partner Moussa Dembele set up the goal.
Celtic played in a 3-5-2 formation last night with Griffiths and Dembele both starting up front. It was only their second start together this season. The Hoops never really struggled to control the game. Hamilton did have their chances on the break but could not convert them. Here are the Celtic player ratings against Hamilton.
Craig Gordon: 7/10
His handling of the ball was solid and communication was good. Made a few decent saves.
Mikael Lustig: 7/10
Played really well at the right of a three-man defence. Often burst forward as an auxiliary right-back giving Roberts the license to join the attack. A solid display.
Jozo Simunovic: 7.5/10
Stepped out of the back comfortably. Was a force in the air and passed really well.
Erik Sviatchenko: 7/10
Was comfortable in possession and often came forward. Blazed a shot over the bar.
Callum McGregor: 6.5/10
Stuck to the left flank throughout the game. Created plenty of chances but the end product was missing.
Scott Brown: 7.5/10
Controlled the game with perfection. Disciplined. Hardly burst forward. Passed really well.
Stuart Armstrong: 7/10
Full of energy. Drove forward. Tracked back when needed. A complete performance.
Tom Rogic: 8.5/10
Was the best player on the pitch. Created a number of chances. Movement was good.
Patrick Roberts: 7/10
Was solid on the right. Took defenders on for fun and crossed well.
Leigh Griffiths: 7.5/10
Picked up pockets of space behind the defence. Took his goal really well. Full of energy and liveliness.
Moussa Dembele: 6.5/10
Missed a few chances but his hold up play was good.
