If latest reports are to be believed, Ajax midfielder Riechedly Bazoer is ready to leave the club in the January transfer window according to his manager Peter Bosz. This piece of news has understandably alerted a lot of clubs including Premier League leaders Chelsea. The 20-year old was left out of the squad against Standard Liege for the Europa League on Thursday and is not in the manager’s plans this season.
The young midfielder had made his debut for the Eredivisie giants in 2013 and has since made appeared in over 60 matches and has scored seven times in the process.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, ahead of Thursday’s game, Bosz confirmed the news when he said,
“After talks with Riechedly, I assume there is a big chance that he is not with this team anymore after the winter break. Against Standard, I want to play young players so they can get used to this international level.”
It is understood that Bazoer might not have to set about searching for clubs as the talk on the street is that clubs like Barcelona, Liverpool, Arsenal and AC Milan are all monitoring the Dutch international.
Chelsea though look to be ahead in the queue and are weighing up a move to bring the midfielder to Stamford Bridge. Antonio Conte’s men are top the league but Conte wants to add depth to his squad. Bazoer’s arrival would certainly be a positive signing for the club as he is young and has a lot of potential.
The 6’ feet player is a gifted central midfielder and is known for his top-notch distribution. He is sharp, alert and makes crucial interceptions. These are the exact qualities which Conte wants in his squad. Bazoer, if signed will act as a cover for both Matic and Kante who are the two main midfielders in Conte’s 3-4-3 formation. The future of Mikel and Cesc Fabregas looks uncertain with both players linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Moving to the Premier League will give the Dutch international the perfect platform to take his game to the next level. Bazoer, 20, has the pace and can quickly adapt to the demands of the Premier League. He can also learn from the best in Kante as well as Nemanja Matic and gradually improve.
But Conte and Chelsea will have to dig in if they are to succeed in getting their man as there are plenty of clubs who wants to add the talented Dutchman in their ranks. It is reported that a fee close to £20m will be enough to prise away the midfielder. Thus, financial roadblocks are unlikely to be a hindrance in this case.
