In a recent report, SportMediaSet stated that Tottenham Hotspur are set to rival AC Milan for LOSC Lille defender Sven Botman. It has been claimed that Spurs have joined the race to secure the signature of the Dutch centre-back.

Botman is having an impressive season at the Stade Pierre Mauroy after putting in a series of dominant displays at the centre of Lille’s backline. The 22-year-old has registered three goals and one assist in 21 matches for the French club in this campaign across multiple competitions.
The Dutch sensation has impressed a lot with his performances on the defensive end of the pitch as he is averaging 1.2 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 4.8 clearances per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been excellent when interchanging possession with his teammates going forward based on his pass success rate of 87.7% in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).

What Will Botman Add To Tottenham Hotspur Boss Antonio Conte’s Side?
Botman can time his tackles well to earn possession back inside his half. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the offensive. Standing at 1.95m, the ex-Ajax talent is a towering presence at the back and can win his fair share of duels in the air. He excels at playing his way out from the back and hardly gives away the ball cheaply on the defensive end of the field.
Therefore, Botman will be an excellent option for Spurs to pursue in the summer as he will add a lot of quality to Antonio Conte’s defensive department.
