In a recent report, TuttoMercatoWeb mentioned that Liverpool are eyeing a move for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar this summer. It has been revealed that the Reds are showing interest in recruiting the Slovakia international when the transfer window reopens later this year.
Skriniar’s Impressive Form At San Siro This Season
Skriniar has experienced a solid campaign with the Milan outfit and deserves credit for putting in some solid displays at the centre of their backline. The 26-year-old has registered four goals in 27 appearances for Inter this season across all fronts.
The Slovak talent has been a rock at the back as he is averaging 1.3 tackles, 1.0 interceptions and 2.7 clearances per game in Serie A. He has been very accurate when distributing possession from the back after making 92.9% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Skriniar Add To Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp’s Side?
Skriniar has proven his worth as a solid presence on the defensive end of the field during his time in Italian football. He is usually quick to spot the danger and doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the front foot.
The 48-time Slovakia international is a good tackler of the ball and can make a few crucial interceptions inside his half. Standing at 1.88m, he can use his strength to dominate the opposition attackers in the air and is even proficient at playing his way out from the back.
We can expect Skriniar to add a lot of bite and steel to Jurgen Klopp‘s defensive department if the Reds manage to land him in the summer.
The Slovak defensive ace could go on to form a dominant centre-back partnership with Virgil Van Dijk at Anfield in the coming seasons. At 26, Skriniar is currently playing at the top of his game.
Hence, Klopp can expect him to make an immediate impact at the Merseyside club. Plus, he could even help Liverpool overtake Manchester City at the top of Premier League football if they can find a way to get a deal done for him at the end of this campaign.
