In a recent report, Sport claimed that Real Madrid are hoping to land Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule. It is understood that Los Blancos have identified the German centre-back as one of their targets for the summer transfer window.
Sule’s Solid Campaign In German Football
The 26-year-old has been a rock at the back for the Munich giants during this campaign. However, he has got less than six months left to run in his contract which could be why Los Blancos are planning to sign him when he becomes a free agent in the summer.
Sule has been involved in 25 matches for the German outfit this season, securing one assist in the process across multiple competitions. The talented centre-half has performed his defensive duties quite well as he is averaging 1.0 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 1.7 clearances per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from the back after completing 89.4% of his attempted passes in the German top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Is Sule The Right Fit For Real Madrid?
Standing at 1.95m, Sule is a towering presence inside his penalty box and can win his fair share of aerial duels on the defensive third of the pitch. He is a good tackler and can make life difficult for the opposition attackers using his strength and defensive awareness. The German talent can serve as a solid defender at the highest level when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field. Hence, he will be a good fit for Los Blancos to consider in the summer.
Carlo Ancelotti should consider offering Sule a chance to prove his worth in Spain at the end of this campaign. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot in the Italian head coach’s first XI.
Furthermore, Sule could go on to form a decent centre-back partnership with David Alaba at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming seasons. Thus, the Spanish giants should try everything they can to convince the player to seal a move to the Bernabeu this summer.
