In a recent report, The Sun mentioned that Arsenal are eyeing a loan move for Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic. It is understood that the Gunners are showing interest on sealing a loan move for the Serbian forward who has struggled to make himself a regular starter for Los Blancos this season.
Jovic’s Unimpressive Season At The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium
Jovic has experienced another underwhelming campaign at the Spanish capital and has often found himself behind Karim Benzema in Carlo Ancelotti’s pecking order. The 24-year-old has made 15 appearances for Los Blancos this season, netting one goal and securing two assists across all competitions.
The Serbian marksman has been a regular presence on Real Madrid’s bench which explains why he is averaging 0.7 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. However, he deserves credit for being tidy with his link-up play after completing 79.2% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Should Real Madrid Let Jovic Go This Month?
Jovic can be a streaky goal-scorer in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the field. However, regular game time has come at a premium for the Serbian striker during this campaign which has affected his performances on the pitch.
The ex-Bundesliga talent can get himself into some dangerous areas in the final third and can make some clever runs in behind the opponent’s backline.
Jovic has caught the eye at times with his performances off the bench, so Los Blancos would be wise to keep him at the club until they can find a suitable replacement. Ancelotti currently has Karim Benzema as his first-choice forward with Jovic and Marino Diaz offering cover on the bench. Therefore, the Real Madrid manager would need to rely on Jovic’s services if his team are to compete for multiple trophies in the second half of this season.
With all things considered, the Madrid outfit should not think about letting Jovic leave this month even though a loan move would do the player’s confidence a world of good.
