Fichajes has recently reported that Real Madrid have identified Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz as a target. It is understood that Los Blancos are eyeing the Spanish playmaker as an option to strengthen Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield this year.
Ruiz’s Impressive Form At Naples This Season
Ruiz has been a solid presence at the heart of Napoli’s midfield during this campaign. He has proven himself to be a valuable contributor to the Naples club at both ends of the field.
The 25-year-old has scored five goals and secured three assists in 20 matches for the Italian outfit this season across multiple competitions. Ruiz has anchored the midfield quite well for Napoli as he is averaging 1.8 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 1.3 shots and 1.3 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A. The Spaniard has even been accurate with his ball distribution after making 91.6% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
What Will Ruiz Add To Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti’s First XI?
Ruiz is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back in midfield. He also doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range. The Spanish sensation hardly gives away the ball and has got the eye to unlock the opposition defence with a killer pass in the final third.
A player of Ruiz’s attributes will undoubtedly be a clever signing for Los Blancos if they manage to secure his signature this January or at the end of this campaign.
Ruiz will add more bite and steel to Carlo Ancelotti‘s midfield and could serve as a perfect long-term successor to Luka Modric at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming seasons. At 25, the Spaniard still has a lot of room to improve as a footballer and has what it takes to become a future star at the Madrid club. Thus, it makes sense for Ancelotti to orchestrate a move to bring Ruiz to the Spanish capital as he will help Real Madrid continue challenging for top honours over the next decade.
