Tottenham Hotspur would be a disappointed bunch after their inability to muster anything from their trip to the Old Trafford. Although Manchester United looked the better team over the course of the match, Spurs were guilty of presenting them the goal. Harry Kane, who overall had a bad day in office was culpable of playing a nothing pass in his own half and lose possession to Ander Herrera with his defence out of position. A quick through ball releasing Mkhitaryan saw the Armenian smash home the 1st goal which eventually turned out to be the winner. Spurs are sandwiched between the two Manchester clubs and in another uber-competitive year have done enough to suggest that they will be in and around the places which matter eventually.
While the exit from the Champions League has been a big blow, they have the Europa League to test their bench strength and give their new recruits enough meaningful minutes to keep them sharp and hungry. They have only lost twice this season. Chelsea being one and the loss against United being the other. They were outplayed in none and all the things point to an improvement in the situation. Kane hasn’t yet hit his best form while the likes of Sissoko, Janssen, Nkoudou or even Lamela are yet to blossom this season.
Hull City at home is up next and as things stand, a goal fest is on the cards.
PREDICTED TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR LINE-UP VS HULL CITY (4-2-3-1)
DEFENCE
Hugo Lloris will be in goal and he has grown in stature a lot over the past couple of seasons. Considered one of the finest in the League, he can expect to have a relatively quiet outing on Wednesday. Walker will be at right-back while, arguably the best defensive partnerships in the league, Alderweireld and Vertonghen, will be lined up in central defence. Danny Rose will be at left-back and will get lots of chances to make his forays into the opposition half.
MIDFIELD
Victor Wanyama has been impressive since his move and is one of the mainstays of the midfield. His physique and his tackling ability have been the perfect foil for the adventurous and the ball-playing central midfielder, Dembele. Dele Alli has looked good gradually but is lacking in end product till now.
ATTACK
Christian Eriksen will be on the left wing and his vision and his expertise on set-pieces will have to be dealt carefully by the Tigers. Son is expected to be on the right-hand side while Harry Kane will lead the line.
