Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho is eyeing a 31st December return against Manchester City. The Brazilian suffered an ankle injury in a 2-0 win over Sunderland. He was supposed to return after New Year but it seems the 24-year-old can be available for the much crucial match against City.
Liverpool have struggled without the service of their star player as they couldn’t manage a win in their last two matches. They lost to Bournemouth 4-3 following a 2-2 draw against West Ham United.
Klopp would love to have his key player in form who has been outstanding so far until his injury. Coutinho has scored six goals and has registered six assists this season.
Coutinho who was present at the Anfield in the last match said, “This is still my hope – to return for this game.
“The rehab is going really well. I can now walk without crutches and I am working well with the medical team. So I’m pleased with how I am recovering.
“Straight after the game, when I first saw the pictures and videos of my injury, I was a little scared.
“But after the scans, of course it was bad, but not as bad as it could have been. I am happy, as it could have been a lot worse.”
