In a recent report, Sky Sports mentioned that Arsenal are showing interest in Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic this winter. It has been claimed that the Gunners are eyeing a January move to secure the services of the Serbian striker.
Vlahovic’s Brilliant Numbers In Italian Football
Vlahovic has continued to perform at a high level as the focal point of Fiorentina’s attack. The 21-year-old is currently leading the goal-scoring charts in Serie A which has enhanced his reputation across Europe.
The Serbian youngster has banged in 18 goals and picked up three assists in 22 matches for the Florence outfit this season in all competitions. The ex-Partizan talent has been a consistent performer in the opposition half because he is averaging 3.5 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A.
However, Vlahovic needs to figure out a way to improve his accuracy when interchanging possession with his teammates in the final third, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 71.4% in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Vlahovic Bring To Arsenal?
Vlahovic can use his powerful 1.90m frame to challenge the opposition centre-backs in the air. He has transformed himself into a prolific goal-scorer at the Stadio Artemio Franchi over the past couple of seasons.
The Belgrad-born sensation can even set up a few meaningful openings for others around him and is proficient at making some clever runs with the ball in behind the opponent’s backline.
However, as mentioned earlier, the 14-time Serbia international has to work on improving his link-up play in the final third if he wants to taste success at the highest level. There are also some concerns over whether the Fiorentina prospect can maintain his excellent numbers in Premier League football if the Gunners can get him on board this January.
We can expect Vlahovic to bring a lot of goals and some physicality to Arsenal‘s frontline. Thus, Mikel Arteta should try everything he can to lure the Serbian whizkid to the Emirates Stadium before the end of this transfer window.
At 21, Vlahovic has got a very promising future ahead of him which makes him an excellent, long-term signing for the North London outfit to pursue this month.
