Jeunes Footeux has recently reported that Everton are showing interest in Ajax winger David Neres. It is understood that the Toffees could face competition from Newcastle United and Olympique Lyonnais in pursuit of the Brazilian wide player.

Neres has experienced an up and down campaign at the Johan Cruyff Arena but has still managed to put in a handful of productive displays for Ajax out on the wide areas. The 24-year-old has found the back of the net on four occasions and secured two assists in 22 matches for the Dutch giants this season across all competitions.

Most of the Brazilian sensation’s appearances have come off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.6 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Dutch Eredivisie. However, he has been tidy when interchanging possession with his teammates after making 83.6% of his attempted passes in the Dutch top-flight (stats via whoscored).

Neres can use his quickness and agility to beat his marker out on the flanks. He is a joy to watch when he is dribbling at full swing with the ball and has got the vision to create some decent plays for others around him. The Brazilian talent has scored goals consistently in Dutch football when he has been given a regular run of first-team starts in recent seasons. Thus, Everton would be wise to engineer a move to bring him to Goodison Park as he will undeniably enhance the overall depth of Rafael Benitez’s squad.
