In a recent report, El Nacional revealed that Real Madrid are set to rival Barcelona for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie whose contract at San Siro is about to end next summer. It has been revealed that Los Blancos are intensifying their efforts to sign the Ivory Coast international on a free transfer at the end of this season.
Kessie’s Decent Run Of Form At San Siro This Season
Kessie is having another impressive campaign at Milan as he has been responsible for putting in a string of solid displays at the centre of Stefano Pioli’s midfield. The 25-year-old has scored five goals and provided one assist in 21 matches for the Italian outfit this season across various competitions.
The Ouragahio-born talent has performed well to average 1.3 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 1.1 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even been impressive when distributing possession from midfield after making 90.2% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).

What Will Kessie Add To Real Madrid Manager Carlo Ancelotti’s Team?
Kessie can anchor the midfield with a lot of conviction as he has got good defensive awareness that helps him secure possession back for his team. He is a solid tackler of the ball and doesn’t mind working hard to offer some decent cover for his teammates at the back. The Ivory Coast international can even set up a few clear-cut chances for others around him and has even added a few goals to his game this season.
A complete midfielder of Kessie’s skillset will be an excellent addition to Los Blancos‘ squad. He will add a lot of quality to Carlo Ancelotti‘s midfield and could go on to become a future star at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
