Just when the Liverpool fans started to dream about a Premier League title after so many years, the Reds have started faltering and find themselves six points adrift the top spot. After their collapse against Bournemouth to lose the game 3-4 from being 3-1 ahead, they again threw away two points against West Ham as they had to settle for just a draw on Sunday. The title could be slipping away if the Reds do not improve really soon and Klopp will certainly be a concerned man.
In-form Atalanta teenager Franck Kessie has been linked with a £22.5 million move to Liverpool in January as per reports from The Mirror. The 19-year-old has alerted a host of big clubs in Europe with his scintillating displays in the middle of the park this season and it is only his first season at the top tier. Kessie has always been a player who has been able to convince everyone with his excellent talent from a very early age.
Having cut his teeth with Stella club in his native Abidjan in Ivory Coast, the midfielder got a call-up to the national team for whom he made a debut at 17. Atalanta signed him up later and loaned him to Cesena in Serie B, where the player excelled himself as a player. When a player slowly starts making a name for himself at the top level, it is natural to see him getting compared with legends of the game and being an Ivorian, you can understand why he is touted as the ‘next Yaya Toure’.
Kessie is just 19 years of age but has shown the world what he is capable of in his debut season in Italy’s first tier. Chipping in with six goals in all competitions, the powerful central midfielder has been a mainstay for Atalanta this season, as his side sit sixth in Serie A. The 19-year-old is blessed with a big frame and is very strongly built and Liverpool do miss a physical presence in midfield apart from Emre Can.
Marko Grujic is taking his time to adapt to the Premier League while Gini Wijnaldum has been pretty average. The addition of Kessie can give the Reds a whole new dimension in the middle of the park. He has it all to become a complete midfielder- excellent attacking outburst, defensive skills, brilliant tackling ability and a sound technique. Under a manager like Klopp, the Ivorian has every chance to flourish and become a long-term success at Anfield.
