Tottenham Hotspur locked horns with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier tonight as they hoped to earn a result in the first leg of their EFL Cup semifinal tie. Spurs made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the fifth minute when Kai Havertz capitalised on a mistake from Japhet Tanganga and scored from close range. Ben Davies netted an unfortunate own goal in the 34th minute which left Antonio Conte’s men with a mountain to climb in the second half.
Spurs failed to come up with a response in the second 45 minutes and crashed to a 2-0 derby defeat at West London.
Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham player performed during the contest against the Blues.
GK: Hugo Lloris – 7/10
The French keeper made a few decent saves to keep the scoreline down. However, he won’t be happy after conceding two goals in the first half.
CB: Japhet Tanganga – 5/10
He was at fault for both of Chelsea’s goals tonight. It was an error-prone display from him tonight.
CB: Davinson Sanchez – 7/10
Sanchez earned the ball back a couple of times and didn’t shy away from putting his foot through the ball when needed.
CB: Ben Davies – 5.5/10
The Welsh talent made a couple of solid tackles but will be disappointed after scoring an own goal in the 34th minute.
