In a recent report, The Mirror revealed that Manchester United playmaker Jesse Lingard wants to seal a move to West Ham United during this January transfer window. It is understood that the English attacker is frustrated with life under Ralf Rangnick and is eager to join the Hammers permanently this month.
Lingard’s Recent Frustrations At The Theatre Of Dreams
Lingard has failed to make himself a regular starter at Old Trafford after often finding himself on Man United’s bench during this campaign. The Warrington-born sensation registered two goals and one assist in 12 matches for the Red Devils this season across various competitions.
The 29-year-old has made all of his league appearances off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.5 shots, 0.3 key passes and 0.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. Still, he has done well to distribute possession accurately in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 92.9% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Should West Ham United Snap Lingard Up This Month?
Lingard showed during his loan spell with the Hammers last season that he can score goals consistently in Premier League football when he is playing regularly on the pitch.
The 32-time England international is a tidy passer of the ball and can set up a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third. Lingard is also a hard man to stop when he is dribbling at full swing in the opposition half.
At 29, the English talent has still got a handful of years left in his locker to play at his best. Thus, we can expect him to hit the ground running if the Hammers manage to bring him back to the London Stadium during this winter transfer period.
Lingard will add a lot of quality to David Moyes‘ frontline and could help the East London outfit maintain their push for a top-four spot in the Premier League this season. Therefore, West Ham should think about snapping the English playmaker up before the end of this month.
