Varane Set To Start | 4-2-2-2 Manchester United Predicted Lineup Vs Wolves

Manchester United will lock horns with Wolves at Old Trafford on Monday night, hoping to pick up all three points on their home turf. The Red Devils will be coming into the match on the back of an emphatic 3-1 win over Burnley, whereas Bruno Lage’s men recorded a 0-0 stalemate against Chelsea on December 19.

Ralf Rangnick will probably opt for the 4-2-2-2 formation with a couple of tweaks from the last game. Fred might get the nod over Nemanja Matic in midfield, whereas Raphael Varane looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.

Defence

David de Gea is expected to start between the sticks for the upcoming clash. The Spanish shot-stopper would be looking to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet on Monday.

Raphael Varane, who was rested against Burnley as a precautionary measure, is expected to start at the heart of United’s backline, with skipper Harry Maguire slotting into the left-centre back position.

Luke Shaw is a guaranteed starter at the left-back position, whereas Diogo Dalot is likely to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka as the right back. The duo would be expected to stay compact and keep their shape defensively.

Midfield

Fred is expected to start in the defensive midfield position, whereas Scott McTominay will slot in as the central midfielder.

Bruno Fernandes remains a sure-fire starter for Manchester United this week, and it’ll be an understatement to say The Red Devils will be highly dependent on the Portugal international’s creative work if they wish to pick up a win on Monday.

Jadon Sancho will take up the role of the right-winger.

Donny van de Beek will have to settle for a place on the bench, but he could be brought on in the second half of the contest if needed.

Attack

Following the midweek heroics against Sean Dyche’s team, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to lead the line for Manchester United again this game week. The 36-year-old striker’s adept movement in front of the goal could cause a lot of trouble for the Wolves defence that has kept three clean sheets in their last five league matches.

Edinson Cavani will partner the Portugal international up top.

Marcus Rashford could be brought off the bench as an impact substitute in the second forty-five minutes of the match.
