A horrible week for Manchester City comes to an end and they will blame their horrible luck and absolute shocker of a defence for the 4-2 scoreline. A frenetic opening 20 minutes saw Leicester City race ahead to a 3-0 lead and realistically speaking there was no return from that for the Sky Blues. Manchester City were carved and sliced open by a reborn Leicester City and Jamie Vardy as Pep Guardiola’s clueless look on the touchline slowly becomes a norm. Bravo must be missing the unnatural comfort of the Nou Camp while Kolarov and the likes would be searching for holes to hide in before they are seen off.
Let us take a look at 3 players who have to improve for City to start winning again.
CLAUDIO BRAVO
Has completely failed to settle to the tempo and the style of the opposition play in England. He was brought in due to his supreme ability with the ball at his feet. Pep’s philosophy of playing out from the back needed someone like that and the fans were hence even willing to forgive Joe Hart’s axe from the team.
But he has failed to create an understanding with his teammates and his shot-stopping has been absolutely horrendous. Conceding almost everything that is hit at him, he has emerged as a weak link in the team.
JOHN STONES
The youngster was considered a huge gamble by pundits who were sceptical of the error-prone nature of the young England star and his subsequent transfer fee. He cost Everton lots of points due to his direct errors last season and after a month or so of the honeymoon period, his trysts with errors seem to be back again.
He is supposedly the future leader of the rearguard of City but has to defend with the likes of Sagna and Kolarov alongside him in centre-back positions. The game plan is unclear from Pep but whatever the strategy might be, he does need to cut down on his errors.
KEVIN DE BRUYNE
The Belgian last scored on Matchday 5 against Bournemouth but has failed to find the back of the net since then. He had 6 assists in the first 6 weeks but has had just 3 in the next 9. His sharpness seems to be missing and his crosses and deliveries have not been the best.
His miss against Chelsea turned out to be pivotal and his overall attacking demeanour has changed. He does not attempt to go past people, instead opting to pass sideways or wait for a man. The Belgian possesses the quality and should be taking more risks.
