Arsenal faced off against Everton at Goodison Park earlier tonight as they hoped to pick up all three points on their travels. The Gunners produced a solid display in the first 45 minutes and managed to take the lead just before the stroke of half-time courtesy of Martin Odegaard’s volley.
Mikel Arteta initially protected their advantage well in the second half but conceded the equaliser in the 79th minute when Richarlison scored with a header from close range. Demarai Gray completed the turnaround for the Toffees in the second minute of stoppage time with a stunning strike from 20 yards as the North London outfit ended up being beaten by a 2-1 scoreline.
Let’s take a look at how each Arsenal player performed during the clash against the Toffees.
GK: Aaron Ramsdale – 6/10
The Gunners keeper made a few solid saves but will be disappointed after conceding two late goals in the game.
RB: Takehiro Tomiyasu – 7/10
Tomiyasu won multiple aerial duels and performed his defensive duties quite well during the game. He also made one key chance in the Everton half.
CB: Ben White – 6.5/10
He made a couple of important interceptions at the back and was quite adventurous with the ball at his feet. Still, White won’t be pleased for allowing two goals in the final quarter of the game.
CB: Gabriel – 6.5/10
Gabriel cleared his lines when needed on the defensive end of the field but lost his concentration towards the end of the match.
LB: Kieran Tierney – 7.5/10
The Scottish full-back was defensively solid and made two good runs with the ball down the left wing. He lasted only 64 minutes but did well to pick up an assist.
CM: Thomas Partey – 6.5/10
Partey offered decent protection for his teammates at the back but struggled to be creative at the centre of the park.
CM: Granit Xhaka – 6/10
The Swiss talent did his fair share of defending but was a bit sloppy at times with his passing from midfield.
RW: Bukayo Saka – 7/10
Saka made a few solid tackles and pulled off a couple of promising runs with the ball in the final third. He managed to cause a few problems for the Everton defenders but there was no goal for him tonight.
CAM: Martin Odegaard – 8/10
He scored the opening goal with a brilliant finish in the first half injury-time. He also engineered a handful of inviting chances for others around him and was always willing to have a strike at goal.
LW: Gabriel Martinelli – 6/10
The youngster worked hard but struggled to influence the game in the attacking end of the pitch.
ST: Alexandre Lacazette – 6/10
The Frenchman made a few tackles but hardly got a sniff at goal. He offered very little in the final third and got replaced in the 84th minute.
Substitutes:
LB: Nuno Tavares – 6/10
He made two good interceptions after coming off the bench.
ST: Eddie Nketiah – 6.5/10
Nketiah made some decent openings for others around him in the final quarter of the game.
ST: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – N/A
He didn’t get enough minutes to warrant a rating.
