Chelsea will lock horns with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium this Sunday afternoon as they try to earn a victory on the road. The Blues were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Everton earlier this week, so they will be desperate to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.
Thomas Tuchel will opt for a 3-4-2-1 formation and is expected to make a few tweaks to his starting XI for this game. Trevoh Chalobah, N’Golo Kante and Kai Havertz could all play from the start for the Blues as Tuchel looks to name a strong team for this clash.
3-4-2-1 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Edouard Mendy will operate in goal for Chelsea after he shipped in one goal versus the Toffees in midweek. Tuchel might choose to name a back three of Trevoh Chalobah, Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger for this game.
Andreas Christensen will make up the numbers on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante will anchor the midfield for the visitors as they try to establish their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park. Reece James will be a guaranteed starter down the right flank while Marcos Alonso fills in on the other side as the left wing-back. Both of them will look to create some clear-cut chances for their teammates to win the game.
Hakim Ziyech and Mason Mount are expected to assume the duties of the free-flowing attacking midfielders and will carry most of the goal-scoring workload for the West London outfit in the Wolves half.
Saul Niguez and Ross Barkley will have to be content with a spot on the bench as they wait for their chances to shine in the latter stages if required.
Attack
Kai Havertz will spearhead Tuchel’s attack in the final third. The German attacker will have to pass a late fitness test as he is returning from an illness.
Christian Pulisic will drop to the bench but might come on to influence the game in the final quarter of the match if the Blues are in need of a goal by then.
