Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has seen lots of ups and downs in recent days regarding his role at the club and is expected to leave the club in January but Antonio Conte has rejected a January move for the midfielder.
The 29-year-old defensive midfielder is yet to feature this season for the Blues. His contract is due to expire in May but he hasn’t been picked by Conte for a single time this season. The midfielder has been linked with Manchester United with Jose Mourinho reportedly planning to swoop in one of his trusted players during his time with Chelsea.
Amidst of interest from a number of clubs Conte has turned down all the claims, “The situation with Obi Mikel is simple: he’s in the squad. He stays with us
“We know that, at the end of the season, probably his contract will expire. But I don’t know what happens now. He’s a player who is part of this squad and every single game I take my decision about him.
“I don’t think this is the place to talk about this. If I have to talk about the contracts of my players, I prefer to do it in the right place with my club.”
