In a recent print edition, Tuttosport claimed that Arsenal are to rival Juventus for Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic. However, it is believed that the Serbian striker prefers a move to the Turin club but the Gunners are going to try to land him regardless in January or at the end of this campaign.
Vlahovic’s Excellent Goal-Scoring Campaign In Italian Football
Vlahovic is having one of the best seasons of his playing career as he has been a goal-scoring machine for the Florence outfit in Italian football. The former Partizan Belgrade talent has featured in 16 matches for the Italian club in this campaign, netting 14 goals and securing two assists in the process across all fronts.
The Serbian talent has been a consistent performer for Fiorentina in the attacking end of the field by averaging 3.4 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play deep inside the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 71.4% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
What Will The Serbia International Bring To The Emirates Stadium?
Vlahovic is a well-rounded forward who excels at testing the opposition keeper with his shot attempts. He is transforming himself into a decent finisher in front of the opposition goal and can also set up a few inviting chances for his teammates up top.
The 14-time Serbia international can get himself into some promising positions in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. Vlahovic can use his towering 1.90m frame to dominate the aerial battle inside the opposition penalty box. However, as mentioned earlier, he needs to work on his link-up play if he wants to be a success story in Premier League football.
At the moment, Mikel Arteta can use an up-and-coming striker of Vlahovic’s skillset to add more competition for Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang at the North London club. At 21, the Serbian talent is in for a very bright future in European football. We can expect him to bring a lot of quality and depth to Arsenal‘s frontline if Arteta can find a way to win the race for his services.
