In a recent report, El Nacional mentioned that Real Madrid are facing stiff competition for Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek. It has been stated that Los Blancos would have to rival Newcastle United in the race to acquire the services of the Red Devils outcast.
Van de Beek’s Limited Role At The Theatre Of Dreams This Season
Van de Beek has struggled to earn regular playing minutes for Man United as he has often found himself behind Fred, Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba in the Old Trafford pecking order. The 24-year-old has scored just one goal in eight appearances this season across various competitions.
All of his playing minutes in league football have come off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.8 tackles, 0.3 shots and 0.8 key passes per 90 minutes in the Premier League. Still, Van de Beek deserves a pat on the back for making 77.8% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Is Van de Beek The Right Fit For Real Madrid Manager Carlo Ancelotti?
Van de Beek can do a bit of everything at the centre of the park. He is a good tackler of the ball and can make some decent chances for his teammates to score from midfield. The Dutch talent can also be a streaky scorer as evident from his spell at Ajax. At the moment, his Man United career is going nowhere. Hence, van de Beek can benefit from sealing a move away from Manchester this winter.
Real Madrid could be an ideal home for him as he could play in rotation with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos as they are both entering the last stage of his playing career. At 24, the Nijkerkerveen-born talent has still got plenty of time to turn his career around for the better, so Carlo Ancelotti would be wise to get him on board this January.
Van de Beek ticks all the right boxes in terms of what the Madrid giants are looking for to bolster their squad. All in all, the Dutch midfield ace will be a decent fit for Los Blancos as long as Ancelotti is willing to offer him a chance to shine in his first XI.
