In a recent print edition, O Jogo revealed that Real Madrid are leading the race to land Sporting CP full-back Pedro Porro, who is currently playing on loan from Manchester City. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos can expect to face competition from Sporting in pursuit of the Spanish right-back.
Porro’s Decent Run Of Form At Jose Alvalade Stadium
Porro is having an impressive loan spell in Portuguese football after putting in some eye-catching displays for Rúben Amorim’s team recently. The 22-year-old has registered two goals and two assists in 15 appearances for his current club this season on all fronts.
The Don Benito-born defensive ace has caught the eye by averaging 2.3 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 1.2 shots, 1.6 key passes, 1.8 crosses and 1.4 dribbles per game in the Liga Bwin. However, he needs to work on improving his accuracy when distributing possession from the right flank based on his pass completion rate of 73.3% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Is Porro The Right Fit For Real Madrid?
Porro has decent pace under his belt and can make some promising runs with the ball down the right wing. He has a good work rate and can strike the ball with power from long range. The Spanish full-back can deliver some inviting crosses into the opposition penalty box. More importantly, he is a reliable defender at the back as he can time his tackles well to secure the ball back on the defensive end of the field.
Porro also doesn’t take too many risks when clearing his lines but needs to take care of the ball a bit better when passing it to his teammates. We can expect the Spaniard to add a lot of quality to Carlo Ancelotti‘s first XI.
At 22, Porro has a very bright future in European football. Plus, he will offer some serious competition for Dani Carvajal for a regular starting place at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. With all things considered, the Spanish sensation will be a good fit for Los Blancos as he has the potential to be a future star for them in Spanish football.
