According to a report by the Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United midfielder, Donny Van de Beek has been targeted by Real Madrid who have stepped up their efforts to sign the Dutchman. The Spanish giants are preparing a cut-price offer in order to get the services of the Manchester United midfielder. Donny van de Beek has a contract until June 30, 2025 with Manchester United, but the lack of regular minutes has significantly dropped the market price of the ex-Ajax man, and Real Madrid now look to seek advantage and offer a low cost in the hope of roping him in.
Donny Van de Beek Not Favoured By Ole
He moved to Manchester United in the summer of 2020 after he caught the eye of many top European clubs during his time at Ajax. The whole of last season saw Donny Van de Beek starting only 4 league games for Manchester United with Ole not preferring him in the midfield role. This season the scenario hasn’t changed either with him having made only 2 appearances for the club. The midfielder is struggling to get any minutes on the football pitch right now even with Manchester United struggling to get results.
Donny Van de Beek has also lost a spot in the Dutch national team due to his lack of playing time. With the World Cup approaching soon, he is keen on making regular appearances for his club in order to get a spot in the World Cup squad but that seems highly unlikely under Ole Gunner Solskjaer at Manchester United. Real Madrid’s interest has come at the right time for him to prove his worth.
Should Manchester United Let Him Go?
It is certain that Van de Beek is looking to end his struggles at Old Trafford by leaving Manchester United as soon as possible. Ole has hardly given him the opportunity to prove his worth at the club and it looks like he is never going to get a chance ahead of Bruno Fernandes in the team. Manchester United are struggling at the back and a defensive midfielder is a priority for them, Van de Beek isn’t strong defensively and hence has not been able to take those places in the middle of the park for them.
Real Madrid are believed to offer a lower price for the Dutchman as they try to find a long term replacement for Luka Modric. If Manchester United are looking not to use Donny further, they should look to grab the offer in order to bring in a world-class defensive midfielder from the market.
