In a recent report, AS stated that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos could face competition in the form of Paris Saint-Germain in the race to secure the services of the Ivory Coast midfield ace.
Kessie’s Impressive Run Of Form At San Siro This Season
Kessie has made a strong start to this campaign after putting in a series of commanding displays as a key contributor in Milan’s midfield. The 48-time Ivory Coast international has made 12 appearances for the Italian giants this season, finding the back of the net twice in the process across multiple competitions.
The former Atalanta youngster has given a good account of himself at the heart of Stefano Pioli’s midfield as he is averaging 1.4 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 0.9 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game in Serie A. Kessie has even taken care of possession when distributing the ball out from midfield, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 91.6% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
What Will Kessie Bring To Real Madrid?
Kessie is a solid tackler of the ball and usually times his challenges well to earn possession back for this team at the centre of the park. He is not shy to step in and clear the danger when needed, especially when his teammates at the back are under pressure from the opposition.
The Ivory Coast international can create a few inviting chances for others around him and can make some powerful runs with the ball towards the opponent’s penalty area. He can even strike the ball with venom and precision from long range but needs to add a few assists to his game if he intends to taste success in European football.
Currently, Carlo Ancelotti has got an aging midfield with both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos edging closer towards the end of their respective careers. Therefore, the Real Madrid boss should focus on getting a deal done for Kessie as there is no doubt that he will bring more quality to Ancelotti’s midfield department.
With the AC Milan midfielder’s contract set to run out next summer, Los Blancos could potentially land him for free if they are willing to offer him a lucrative contract when he becomes a free agent at the end of this campaign.
