In a recent report by the El Nacional, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been asked to match Newcastle United’s offer in order to get the services of Aurelien Tchouaméni from AS Monaco. The young French midfielder has caught the eye of many top clubs in Europe this season after his performances for the French side. It is believed that Los Blancos will face tough competition from Newcastle United in pursuit of the 21-year-old, with the Magpies being the latest club to show an interest in him.
Aurelien Tchouaméni’s Breakthrough Season In Ligue One
After joining Monaco in January 2020, Aurelien Tchouaméni has come leaps and bounds in the 2 seasons he has played for the French club. His performances have earned him a place in the France national team which is believed to have spectacular competition in the middle of the park. He is considered as one of the highest rated young players in the transfer market right now.
N’Golo Kante’s injury problems earned Tchouaméni a place in the starting XI of the France national team for the Nations League. His performances were also key in France winning the Nations League trophy and it is believed his value has risen even more after the competition. The young French star will only look for a move if he is a guaranteed starter to remain in contention for selection of the Qatar World Cup in 2022.
Should Real Madrid Match The Offer?
Real Madrid are looking to bolster their midfield options with the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric at the end of their careers. Casemiro will also be in his 30’s after the season ends and a back up for the Brazilian is considered to be a priority for the Spanish giants. The French midfielder offers pace, physicality and passing in his game which will definitely attract Carlo Ancelotti to sign him.
AS Monaco has valued Tchouaméni at €50 million but it is believed that Newcastle United are open to paying much more for the French midfielder. Real Madrid will need to match the offer and guarantee Tchouaméni a starting spot which highly seems unlikely at the moment. Real would hugely benefit from a player of Tchouaméni’s quality at such an young age who can play in that midfield for years to come. It remains to be seen if Real Madrid can offer Tchouaméni a contract that meets his demands to get his services at the Bernabeu.
