According to Mirror, Manchester City are ready to rival Liverpool in the race to sign Hwang Hee-chan. The Wolves attacker, on loan from RB Leipzig, has become an overnight sensation in the Premier League, with a host of clubs interested in his services. Wolves are desperate to snap him up on a permanent deal, but it appears Man City are hoping to hijack the move and make Hwang their latest offensive addition.
Hwang Hee-chan’s Success In The Premier League
Hwang Hee-chan joined Wolves in the summer, in a season-long loan deal. He was brought in as part of the attacking shakeup by new coach Bruno Lage, who also signed Barcelona’s Francisco Trincao on loan.
Three months into the new season, Hwang has enjoyed a brisk start to his Premier League career. In eight matches, he has netted four goals, emerging as Wolves’ top-scorer. In addition to his productivity, the South Korean international has made an impression with his pace out wide while his ability to take on opposition defenders has caught the eye as well.
Unfortunately, Wolves haven’t performed quite well as a team this season, leading to a lack of support for Hwang. The young forward, though, continues to raise eyebrows with his top-class performances and may soon be on the verge of a move to a bigger club.

A Good Option For Manchester City?
Hwang Hee-chan’s potential addition to Manchester City might not make sense for multiple reasons. The attacker has already struggled at RB Leipzig and given his style of play, he is not suited to Pep Guardiola’s possession-based style of football.
It prevents the South Korean star to utilise his pace to full effect. While Hwang is quite good at linking up with teammates in the final third, he often tends to struggle alongside quality players, either succumbing due to press or simply failing to emerge as a standout performer.
Even from a tactical perspective, Man City are better advised to make a move for a more fully-fledged number nine, as they already have quality wingers like Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez.
While Hwang’s versatility could have been useful for Guardiola, he is better suited at clubs like Wolves or even Liverpool, who employ a more definitive counter-attacking approach in their game.
