According to Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur have registered interest in Charles de Ketelaere. The Club Brugge youngster is one of the most in-demand players in the market due to his impressive performances in the Jupiler Pro League. Tottenham are among the clubs hoping to snap him up in the January transfer window, although they are set to face stiff competition from AC Milan.
Who Is Charles De Ketelaere?
A product of the famed Club Brugge youth academy, Charles de Ketelaere is one of the shining jewels of the next generation of Belgian football, largely due to his rapid rise to prominence in recent years.
Since earning a promotion to the senior side in 2019, De Ketelaere has amassed as many as 90 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals while registering 14 assists. Five of his goals have come in the ongoing 2021/22 campaign, which is an indicator of his improving nature in front of goal.
A centre forward by trade, De Ketelaere is a dynamic modern-day forward, who can drift into wider areas as well as create chances for his teammates in the final third. A Good Option For Tottenham?
Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Charles de Ketelaere is hardly surprising as the club looks to prepare for a future without Harry Kane. The Englishman is widely expected to leave the club at the end of the season, most likely moving to a bigger side in order to stand a chance of winning the elusive silverware.
Kane’s absence should open up the opportunity for Spurs to start a new era, under the guidance of new coach Antonio Conte. And in Ketelaere, they could find themselves a talented young player, who is capable of becoming an ideal long-term replacement for the English international.
At the age of just 20, the Belgian has showcased immense potential and quality in the final third and his tactical versatility could open up a host of possibilities for coach Conte. Indeed, the Italian tactician can deploy the youngster alongside the ever so reliable Son Heung-Min, potentially forming a deadly strike duo next season.
