In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Pedro Almeida stated that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara. It has been revealed that the new Barca boss Xavi is a big admirer of the Spanish midfield ace and could launch a move for him in the future.
Thiago’s Up And Down Spell In English Football
Thiago has experienced an underwhelming spell at Anfield so far as he has struggled to remain injury-free since sealing a move from FC Bayern Munich back in 2020. The former Barcelona youngster has only participated in seven matches for the Reds this season, picking up just one assist in the process across all competitions.
The 30-year-old deserves a pat on the back for averaging 1.2 tackles, 1.2 shots and 1.0 key passes per game in the Premier League. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after making 85.9% of his attempted passes in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).

What Will Thiago Add To Barcelona’s Side?
Thiago is one of the best passers in European football and hardly gives away the ball when playing his way out from midfield. He can create some decent plays for others around him and is proficient at striking the ball with power from long range.
The Spain international can even dribble past his marker with ease when he decides to run with the ball. However, frequent injuries have disrupted his progress at Liverpool so far. Hence, Barca would be taking a risk if they decide to move in for Thiago in the future.
