Arsenal Plot Move For Juventus Ace: Is He A Sensible Option For The Gunners?

According to Sky Italia, Dejan Kulusevski has emerged as a target for Arsenal. The Premier League side are scouring the market for a new forward, especially after being rebuffed by Fiorentina superstar Dejan Vlahovic. Juventus’ Kulusevski has, therefore, emerged as an ideal alternative. Arsenal have already launched a survey, enquiring about the possibility of the attacker’s potential move to Emirates.

Dejan Kulusevski’s Struggles At Juventus

Formerly of the Atalanta academy, Dejan Kulusevski joined Juventus back in January 2020 for €35 million. He was immediately loaned back to Parma during the second half of the 2019/20 campaign when the forward netted a total of ten goals.

However, in his debut season at Juventus last term, Kulusevski found it difficult to establish himself as a first-team regular for the club. He struggled to live up to the club’s soaring expectations, ending the campaign with just four goals in 35 league outings.

The further departure of Andrea Pirlo and the subsequent arrival of Massimiliano Allegri in the summer has made life worse for Kulusevski. The Italian tactician has barely utilised the Swede this season, giving him only two starts in the league so far.

The player himself has struggled to impress, not having found the back of the net yet despite making 11 league appearances. Hence, his long-term future in Turin is now under severe doubt, with Arsenal prepared to acquire his services.

Is Kulusevski A Sensible Option?

Arsenal’s pursuit of Dejan Kulusevski does make a whole lot of sense. The club has no shortage of goalscoring options upfront. But their star player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has never been the same under Mikel Arteta, while Alexandre Lacazette’s contract expires at the end of the season.

The two young forwards in Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun have not been able to make a lasting impression either, thus accentuating the need for reinforcements in the offensive unit.

This is where Kulusevski comes into the fray. The Swede hasn’t had too much success during his time at Juventus. But his dynamism, pace and versatility in the final third could make him a useful asset to the team.

Indeed, the former Atalanta starlet can be considered not only as an alternative to Aubameyang but also to provide competition for the likes of Nicolas Pepe and Bukayo Saka. And at the age of just 21, he has time on his side, making him a smart long-term investment for the Gunners.
