According to Fichajes, Manchester City are interested in signing Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette, who is also a transfer target of West Ham United and Newcastle United. The Frenchman is now in his final year of contract at Arsenal and has decided that he will not extend with his current club. Several Premier League clubs are already interested to bring in Lacazette for free next season, with Manchester City being the latest one wanting to get his services.
Alexandre Lacazette Not Achieving The Heights At Arsenal
The French striker joined Arsenal back in 2017 from Olympique Lyon for a then club-record fee. Hoping to achieve elite heights here at the north London club, the striker’s time has been a mixed bag. Lacazette has accumulated 68 goals and 29 assists in 179 appearances for Arsenal but his playing time this season has reduced along with his form with the striker already deciding to leave the club at the end of this season when his contract expires.
Lacazette has failed to perform on a consistent basis under both the managers Arsenal had in his time. Now with the Gunners looking to invest on young and dynamic players, his stay at the club is therefore coming to an end.
Should Pep Guardiola Give A Green Signal To Buy Him?
Pep’s Manchester City are currently operating without an out and out striker this season with Gabriel Jesus shifted to the right-wing. Pep has deployed the false nine role in his squad this term after the departure of Sergio Aguero at the end of last season. With Alexandre Lacazette available for no cost next summer, Guardiola will surely be having an eye on him. It is believed that Lacazette has the qualities which suit a Pep Guardiola side as he is not a natural number 9 but someone who is versatile, has a great work rate and can link-up play with the other forward players around him.
With Lacazette already having a Premier League experience of 5 years now and having the qualities of creating opportunities and adding further danger with the other attacking players City have, Pep Guardiola might be tempted to give a green signal to the Manchester City board to bring in the striker at the end of this season.
City are expected to have further competitions from West Ham United, Newcastle United and also from Spanish club Atletico Madrid to get the services of the Frenchman. In the month of January, Lacazette will be able to sign a pre-contract after making the decision in respect to his next destination.
