Manchester United clashed heads with Tottenham Hotspur earlier tonight, hoping to pick up all three points away from home. The visitors tore apart Spurs’ defence as Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford got their names on the scoresheet to secure a comfortable 3-0 win.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester United player fared during the clash against the Lilywhites.
Manchester United Players Rated In Win Vs Tottenham
David de Gea 7
The Spanish shot-stopper didn’t have much to do in between the sticks tonight as the hosts couldn’t manage to get even a single shot on target over the course of the match.
Raphael Varane 8
The France international is undoubtedly the Rolls-Royce of defenders. Manchester United felt his absence in the last couple of weeks and it was quite evident from the amount of workload he was given tonight. He made some last-ditch tackles to stop the opposition frontmen from getting a clear shot on target.
Harry Maguire 7
The skipper had some nervy moments at the heart of United’s defence but Varane’s presence allowed him to play with his full confidence. He made some excellent clearances to help his side at the back.
Victor Lindelof 7
The Swedish centre-back seemed much more comfortable playing as a part of the back three. He defended with urgency and kept things in order in defence.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 6.5
While he fared well defensively, it would be an understatement to say that his attacking play was far from convincing. He made the right kind of runs to progress down the right flank but his final product was terrible.
Luke Shaw 7
The English left-back was given a more advanced role tonight and he lived up to the expectations by creating some decent goal-scoring chances for the frontmen.
Scott McTominay 7.5
The Scottish international’s performance at the centre of the park might have gone unnoticed but it would have been impossible to glide past Tottenham’s midfield without his relentless pressing.
Fred 6.5
The Brazilian midfielder had a mixed performance tonight. He won the ball back on numerous occasions but also gave them away easily. Besides, he slowed down the game at times by holding on to the ball for too long.
Bruno Fernandes 8
The Portuguese magnifico put his heart and soul into the game. Not only did he create the goal for Ronaldo, but he also tracked back his marker, pressed relentlessly and won the ball back for his side on several occasions.
Edinson Cavani 9
The Uruguayan international exhibited tremendous work rate over the course of the match and eventually got himself a goal.
Cristiano Ronaldo 9
A brilliant goal on the volley and an assist for the Portugal international – the fans couldn’t have asked for more.
