Real left the equaliser right till the very end against Barcelona last weekend to retain their 6-point lead over the Catalans. Los Blancos will look to leave behind a frustrating few days when they host Deportivo La Coruna this weekend.
Real threw away a two-goal lead at the Bernabeu against Dortmund in the midweek when Aubameyang and Reus struck late to help Dortmund qualify from the top position of the UEFA Champions League group.
Real hold a pretty decent record against Deportivo as they have won six of their last league meetings and haven’t conceded any goal in the last three. Deportivo last won at Bernabeu against Real back in 2004, when they were a household name with a star-studded team. The Whites are 33 games unbeaten in all competition, winning 25 of them and are the favourites.
Defence
Zidane will more or less be sticking to his back four from their midweek’s fixture against Dortmund. Only Pepe is expected to take his place at centre-back, replacing Raphael Varane.
Marcelo will take his left wing back position and Daniel Carvajal on the right back position. Carvajal took his good form from the Barcelona game to the inter-continental tournament as it was his sublime assist that helped Benzema open the scoresheet.
Real’s defence slept in the final quarter of the game last night as Dortmund found too much space to score quickly, twice. Zidane will hope his backline doesn’t repeat their lackadaisical performance.
