We are barely a month away from the January transfer window and all clubs must have already started making plans for it. Everton boss Ronald Koeman will be a concerned man ahead of the winter transfer window and we can expect a busy January at Goodison Park. The cash seems to be available as Everton did not spend a fortune in the summer as we had expected. We might probably see a few Everton players moving away from the club too.
The Mirror claims that Everton are looking to offload Tom Cleverley in January as Koeman is clearly not happy with what the English international has offered. Once he was touted as the ‘next Paul Scholes’ at Manchester United but he has rarely lived up to expectations. He seems to be on his way out of Goodison Park and here are three potential destinations for him.
Celtic
We have seen Scott Sinclair finding his true self and confidence back at Celtic after his career was frozen in English football. Cleverley might be able to do the same if he moves to north of the border. He is 27 now and should reach the peak of his career at this phase.
After struggling in English football, Scotland can give him only joy. Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic are having a party at Parkhead this season and Cleverley will be welcomed there as the Hoops need a box to box midfielder to partner Scott Brown.
Sunderland
Well, we understand the fact that bidding Premier League goodbye for Premiership is not the easiest decision. Sunderland have been struggling this season overall even though they seem to have picked up their game of late.
With his former Manchester United boss David Moyes in charge of Sunderland, Cleverley could resurrect his career at the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats miss quality in midfield and Cleverley could provide them with that.
West Ham United
The Hammers have flattered to deceive this campaign. Much better was expected of the East London club this season after their mesmerising performances of the last season. Payet is perhaps the only shining light in a team full of duds this season.
A Premier League winning midfielder like Cleverley could change the situation if he can get his confidence back. Slaven Bilic could certainly consider a move for the Englishman in January to add options in midfield.
