Barcelona continued their topsy-turvy season as they followed last weekend’s 1-1 draw at home versus Real Madrid with a 4-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach in the last tie of the group of the UEFA Champions League. Luis Enrique selected a largely second string team with only Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta being the truly first team stars. While Messi opened the scoring and eased a few nerves it was Arda Turan who stole the show. A hat-trick from the Turkey captain who has been severely criticised over the past few months, especially while playing for his country, it was good to see him perform so well.
Barcelona, though, will not be resting on their laurels. Particularly because they haven’t done much this season to rest upon. Already 6 points adrift of Real Madrid and one Clasico already played, they have it all to do in front of them. Injuries and a nervy and fragile defence have cost them dear. With the La Liga table packed at the top, there is a real possibility that another negative result will see them further down. And no manager will want that to happen especially when he has Messi, Neymar, Suarez and Iniesta in his team. Luis Enrique might not admit, for obvious reasons, but he must be feeling a bit of pressure.
PREDICTED BARCELONA XI VS CA OSASUNA (4-3-3)
DEFENCE
Marc-André Ter Stegen will be in goal but he has to improve his displays considerably. He has been far from his best and an impatient Cillessen on the bench, he has to step up. Sergi Roberto will make a return after having a much-needed rest against Gladbach. Pique is expected to be back and will most likely partner Umtiti at the back. The young Frenchman got injured after a promising start to his Barca career and will need more games under his belt. Jordi Alba will make a return to left-back.
MIDFIELD
Sergio Busquets was back to his best against Real Madrid and the fans will want to see him back to his consistent best. Iniesta might be brought on from the bench after starting in midweek which will see Andre Gomes or Rafinha being handed another opportunity. Rakitic will complete the midfield trio.
ATTACK
With Neymar out due to injury, it remains to be seen who takes his place. But on merit and current form, it is likely to be Arda Turan. Lionel Messi will be on the right wing while Luis Suarez will lead the line once again.
